Special Annoucement for the 2006 Eco Trip to Seram

Project Bird Watch is very happy to annouce that Rosemary Low will be joining us as our special guest  expert on the August Spirit of Seram trip. The trip is filling up fast and it should be absolutely incredible to travel with someone with her knowledge and expertise on parrots.

We will have the opportunity to see Moluccan cockatoos, Great-Billed parrots, Eclectus, Red- cheeked parrots, lories, lorikeets, hornbills, and giant flying fruit bats. We will be sleeping in our canopy platform, hiking through pristine jungle, and visiting the villages of Masihulan and Sawai. Seram Island is one of the most beautiful and mysterious islands in the world. Other activities will include a visit to Bali, climbing techniques, snorkeling, shelling, shopping, special visits to learn about the Muslim and Hindu cultures, and many other surprises!

Cost is $3950 per person which includes international airfare.

Paradise Expedition, West Papua
August 20 thru September 1, 2006

Join Project Bird Watch on an extraordinary eco-expedition to the Raja Ampat (Four Kings) Islands in mysterious Irian Jaya, now called West Papua. You will have the opportunity to see Triton and Palm Cockatoos, and Birds of Paradise including (if all goes well) The Wilsons Bird of Paradise, The Red Bird of Paradise, and the Lesser Bird of Paradise. We will also see other parrots including Eclectus, lories and Great Bills. We will visit the islands of Gam, Waigeo, Salawati and Batanta, ending up in Bali for touring and shopping. We will be hiking, camping and seeing some of the most amazing Asian rainforest in the world.

Cost is $3500 per person which includes international airfare --- or take the trip as an extension to the Seram trip for $1500!

Special Notes

Due to the pristine environment and remoteness of these locations, be aware, that part of your time will be spent traveling: it takes a day and a half to get to Bali from LAX, with a change of planes in Hong Kong, and two days to travel from Bali to north Seram.

This will be a moderately strenuous trip, and PBW will require a letter from your doctor stating that your health is good enough for you to climb muddy hillsides for 1-2 hours in very hot, humid weather. Other details on health and vaccinations is available in our expedition brief. Call or email us for details!

For more information, expedition briefing, what is included in the trip, itinerary, etc. please contact Eco Tour Director, Bonnie Zimmermann at bonniez@direcway.com or (707) 965-3480
