2006-2007

Kembali Bebas Avian Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary

As indicated in the page “Kembali Bebas," the Avian Center on North Seram Island was founded in October of 2004 and has expanded to 2.6 Ha with a staff of full-time workers.

Release of Confiscated Wild Parrots Back into the Wild

The first release of three Salmon-crested (Seram cockatoos) was carried out in March of 2006.

Konservasi Kakatua Indonesia

The Indonesian perkumpulan (=non-governmental organization) received legal status in December of 2006. It is the organization through which we handle affairs in urban Western Indonesia.

Education

The Conservation-Pride-Awareness program was initiated for urban school children in Jakarta and surrounding districts.

Dissemination of our work

Members of the Board of Directors published articles in PARROTS Magazine; Companion Parrot Quarterly; Rainforest Magazine; and Bird Talk . Oral presentations were given at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI); the Australian Conference of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV); the Houston Parrot Festival; the Cockatoo Convention sponsored by the Long Island Parrot Society, the Spokane Parrot Festival, as well as numerous bird clubs and societies.

Eco-tour

In 2006, highly successful eco-tours were led, to both Maluku and West Papua.

Funding

New grant awards to IPP were made by SeaWorld-Busch Gardens, the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, Alexander Abraham Foundation, Loro Parque Foundation, and the American Federation of Aviculture.

We are an all volunteer 501(c)3 California nonprofit tax-exempt organzation.
