ProAnimalia International is an animal welfare advocacy for Indonesian animals, wildlife and captive alike.

World Parrot Trust is an international organization whose aim is to promote the survival of parrot species in the wild and the welfare of captive birds everywhere.

Charlie's Bird Blog This is the birding blog of Charlie Moores from the UK, and provides superb birding photos, trip reports, links to other birding sites, and conservation reports. "The Ebbaken Project" in the latter section is one of the most inspiring stories anywhere, anytime about what one person (Pierfrancesco Micheloni) can do to make a huge difference saving wild-lives.

Charlie and his bother Nial also co-founded BirdsKorea.org, which, in addition to the title information, provides detailed information debunking the "rationale" for culling millions of wild birds as purported significant vectors of H5N1 avian flu or as he suggests it should be properly called, the "poultry flu."

The Environmental Investigation Agency is an independent, international campaigning organisation committed to investigating and exposing environmental crime and the illegal trade in endangered species.

The World Conservation Union (IUCN) seeks “to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.”

Conventional on Internation Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) is an international agreement between Governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.

The Tanygnathus Society is dedicated to preserving the Great-Billed Parrot.

Avian Welfare Coalition's mission is to prevent the abuse, exploitation, and suffering of captive birds, and to address the crucial issues of rescue, placement, and sanctuary for displaced birds. The AWC also supports efforts to insure the survival of wild birds and the conservation of their natural habitats.

Long Island Parrot Society of NY, Inc. (LIPS) is a non-profit volunteer group and club for bird lovers.

Papua Bird Club offers eco-tours highlighting the abundant bird life (parrots, cockatoos, birds of paradise) of Papua (formerly Irian Jaya, the western half of Papua New Guinea), and is actively involved in conservation in West Papua through their foundation, Yayasan Papua Bird Club.

New York Companion Bird Club of Manhattan Our goal is to support efforts to preserve parrots and birds in the wild. We seek to inform and influence people toward a more humane consideration for avians presently in captivity, an unnatural condition for them to be in, to ensure them an optimum quality of life, and to increase public awareness regarding their proper care.

South Bay Bird Society is a non-profit public benefit corporation founded in 1974 whose main focus is educating the general public, members, prospective new owners, and potential breeders on the health, well-being, longevity and stability of birds of the world, our treasured companions and those living in the wild.

PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA educates policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect.

While we believe that these rescues and sanctuaries are likely to represent organizations which serve the best interests of the birds, the members of Project Bird Watch have not personally inspected each and therefore cannot testify to, or take responsibility for, their practices.

Alaska

Parrot Education and Adoption Center Parrot Education & Adoption Center (PEAC) is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to educating current and potential bird owners on the proper care of pet birds.

Arizona

Tucson Avian Rescue and Adoption Foundation (which despite its name is also active in the Phoenix area) is dedicated to rescuing and placing abused, neglected, and abandoned birds in good homes, and also does a lot of public education.

The Oasis, also located in Southern Arizona, provides a humanitarian sanctuary for parrots that have been so abused, are so old, or have other problems so severe that they're unadoptable.

Safe Animals is a non-profit organization committed to developing a comprehensive, community-based resolution to the euthanasia of adoptable companion animals.

California

Parrots First is a rescue and adoption service that exists solely to help unwanted or found parrots. Through educational classes and seminars they hope to dispel many of the myths and misconceptions that are prevalent today.

Parrot Education & Adoption Center (PEAC) is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to educating current and potential bird owners on the proper care of pet birds. Unwanted or found parrots are accepted at PEAC. They are cared for until adopted to qualified applicants.

Mickaboo Cockatiel Rescue provides protection for those who, by no fault or choice of their own cannot help themselves, and depend on humans for their care, and helps to educate the bird-owning public on the most current diet, health and general care information.

Colorado

The Gabriel Foundation is a rescue and rehabilitative organization dedicated to the well being of companion parrots.

Feathered Family is a place where people with companion parrots can come for most anything, from getting a bit of advice to finding a home for your companion.

Illinois

Refuge for Saving Wildlife operates both an adoption program and a sanctuary.

Iowa

Iowa Parrot Rescue serves Iowa and will refer those in need in other areas to appropriate rescue groups.

Massachusetts

Foster Parrots' goals include offering unadoptable birds a permanent "retirement" home and finding good, caring homes for adoptable birds. Their site has a lot of good information for anyone contemplating getting a parrot as a companion, including information on costs and the considerable amount of time and attention birds require.

Michigan

Knapp-Time finds loving, adoptive homes for unwanted or rescued companion birds with people who are experienced in bird care or are eager to learn.

Minnesota

Midwest Avian Adoption & Rescue Services, Inc. (MAARS) first goal is to educate bird owners and the public about proper bird care so they can make good pet choices and provide the best homes possible for birds. Nebraska

Safe Haven is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to the education of prospective bird owners, and offering up-to-date and proper basic care to current bird owners. They cooperate with other organizations, locally and across the U.S., in providing a safe avenue for persons who can no longer keep their bird, but want to insure a quality new home for their pet.

New York

Parrot Rescue works to see that lost birds are reunited with their loving owners and abused or unwanted birds find new, loving homes.

Chipper Chirpers is a not for profit organization dedicated to the care, rehabilitaion and placement of unwanted and abused exotic birds.

Ohio

Bird Placement Program offers rescue and adoption for unwanted birds/parrots. They offer assistance with bird care, behavior problems, and parrot nutrition, and publish an online bird magazine.

Phoenix Landing An exceptional center for bird rescue and placement located in Arlington, VA and now also in Waynesville, NC. A non-profit organization supporting education and welfare for parrots both in captivity and in the wild.

Washington State

Cockatoo Rescue & Sanctuary provides cockatoos and other parrots a natural flocking setting for life in species specific colonies. Stanbury, WA. cockatoorescue@netzero.net (website under construction).

Mollywood is a sanctuary for rescued Moluccan cockatoos.

West Virginia

Raven's Haven is an accredited rescue group operating under difficult conditions.
